Question 51

If $$X : Y = 13 : 12$$ and $$X - Y = 2$$, then what is value of $$2X + 3Y$$ ?

Solution

Given $$\frac{X}{Y}$$ =$$\frac{13}{12}$$

X - Y = 2 OR X = Y+2

Putting the X value in the above equation we get,

$$\frac{Y+2}{Y}$$= $$\frac{13}{12}$$

12$$\times$$Y$$ $$ +24= 13$$\times$$Y$$ $$

So,Y=24 and X=Y+2=26

So, 2X + 3Y =2$$\times$$26$$ $$+ 3$$\times$$24$$ $$

$$\Rightarrow$$ 52+72 = 124.
