Solution

Square root of 18265 = $$\sqrt{18265} \approx 135.14$$

=> $$(135)^2$$ < $$18265$$ < $$(136)^2$$

Now, $$(135)^2=18225$$

=> Least number which must be subtracted from 18265 to make it a perfect square = $$18265-18225=40$$
