Question 50

Five spheres, each of radius 3 cm, are melted to form a new cylinder of the same radius. What is the height of the cylinder formed?

Volume of one sphere = $$\frac{4}{3}\pi R^3$$ = $$36\pi$$
Volume of five spheres = $$180\pi $$
Therefore, volume of cylinder = $$180\pi $$
Radius of cylinder = 3 cm
$$\pi R^2H$$ = $$180\pi $$
H = 20 cm
Hence, option B is the correct answer.
