Question 46

What will be the value of the following expression, if ‘$$+$$’ and ‘$$-$$’ are interchanged and ‘$$\times$$’ and ‘$$\div$$’ are interchanged?
$$5 − 3 \div 8 \times 12 + 4$$

Solution

If ‘$$+$$’ and ‘$$-$$’ are interchanged and ‘$$\times$$’ and ‘$$\div$$’ are interchanged, then the newly formed expression is given below.

= $$5 + 3 \times 8 \div 12 − 4$$

= $$5+3\times\frac{8}{12}−4$$

= 5+2−4

= 7-4

= 3
