The product of the ages of Swati and Aparna is 120. If thrice the age of Aparna is more than Swati's age by 2 years, fund the age of Swati.

Solution

let age of Swati and Aparna are X and y respectively

now given that

XY=120....(I)

and 3y=X+2...(2)

from (1) and (2)

X(X+2)=360

xx+2x-360=0

xx+20x-18x-360=0

X(X+20)-18(X+20)=0

(X+20)(x-18)=0

X=18
