DIRECTIONS for the question: Solve the following question and mark the best possible option.
At a dinner party every two guests used a bowl of rice between them, every three guests used a bowl of dal between them and every four used a bowl of meat between them. Them were altogether 65 dishes. How many guests were present at the party?
Solution
Let us assume that there were 12x guests.
Number of bowls of rice used = 12x/2 = 6x.
Number of bowls of Dal used = 12x/3 = 4x.
Number of bowls of meat used = 12x/4 = 3x.
Total number of bowls used = 13x which is equal to 65. This gives value of x = 5 and number of guests i.e. 12 to be 60.
