The bus fare between two cities is increased in the ratio 25:29. Find the increase in the fare, if the original fare is Rs. 625

Solution

Let original fare = Rs. $$25x$$

=> New fare = Rs. $$29x$$

Also, original fare = $$625 = 25x$$

=> $$x = \frac{625}{25} = 25$$

$$\therefore$$ Increase in fare = $$29x - 25x = 4x $$

= $$4 \times 25 = Rs. 100$$
