Slope of the line AB is -2/3. Co-ordinates of points A and B are (x , -3) and (5 , 2) respectively. What is the value of x?
Solution
slope = $$\frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}=\frac{2+3}{5-x}=\frac{5}{5-x}=\frac{-2}{3}$$
$$\rightarrow 15 = -10 + 2x$$
$$\rightarrow x = \frac{25}{2} = 12.5$$
so the answer is option C.
