Question 42

Rohan takes 2 hours more than Soham to walk 50 km. but if Rohan doubles his speed, then he can make it in 1 hour less then Soham. How much time does Soham require for walking 50 km?

Let us assume that Soham takes X hrs to walk 50 kms.
Now, Rohan takes X+2 hrs.
If Rohan doubles his speed, he will take half the time for the same distance i.e.Β $$\frac{X+2}{2}$$ hrs.
This time is 1 hr less than X i.e. time taken by Soham.
$$\frac{X+2}{2}=X-1$$
X+2 = 2X-2Β
==>Β X = 4 hrs.
Soham takes 3 hrs to walk 50 kms.
