Two trains of equal length are running on parallel tracks in the same direction at 40 km/hr and 30 km/hr. The faster train passes the slower train in 54 seconds. The length of each train is:
Let us assume the length of each train = L metres.
As they both are moving in the same direction, the relative speed = 40 - 30 = 10 km/hr =Β $$10\times\ \frac{5}{18}=\frac{25}{9}$$ m/sec.
Time taken to completely cross the slower train =Β $$\frac{L+L}{\frac{25}{9}}$$ =Β $$\frac{18L}{25}$$.
==>Β $$\frac{18L}{25}=54$$
This gives L = 75 metres.
