Question 40

The average speed of a car is one-third of the speed of a bus. The bus covers 1125 km in 15 hours. How much distance will the car cover in 30 minutes?

Given that the bus covers 1125 km in 15 hours

So, the speed of the bus is $$\dfrac{1125}{15}=75$$

Given that avg. speed of car is one-third that of the bus

So, avg speed of car is = $$\dfrac{75}{3}=25$$

The distance it will cover in 30 min or half hour is $$25\times\dfrac{1}{2}=12.5$$ km

Hence, the answer is Option B
