Question 39

The following equation is incorrect. Which two signs should be interchanged to correct the equation?
18 x 12 - 3 ÷ 10 + 2 = 64

Solution

Expression : 18 x 12 - 3 ÷ 10 + 2 = 64

(A) : + and x

$$\equiv18+12-3\div10\times2=64$$

L.H.S. = $$30-\frac{6}{10}=29.4\neq$$ R.H.S.

(B) : - and ÷

$$\equiv18\times12\div3-10+2=64$$

L.H.S. = $$(18\times4)-8=64=$$ R.H.S.

=> Ans - (B)
