Question 39

The following equation is incorrect. Which two signs should be interchanged to correct the equation?
20 ÷ 14 + 5 x 20 - 2 = 56

Solution

Expression : 20 ÷ 14 + 5 x 20 - 2 = 56

(A) : + and x

$$\equiv20\div14\times5+20-2=56$$

L.H.S. = $$7.14+18=25.14\neq$$ R.H.S.

(B) : ÷ and -

$$\equiv20-14+5\times20\div2=56$$

L.H.S. = $$6+\frac{100}{2}=56=$$ R.H.S.

=> Ans - (B)
