Question 39

The following equation is incorrect. Which two signs should be interchanged to correct the equation?
15 x 18 - 6 ÷ 20 + 4 = 29

Solution

Expression : 15 x 18 - 6 ÷ 20 + 4 = 29

(A) : + and x

$$\equiv15+18-6\div20\times4=29$$

L.H.S. = $$33-\frac{24}{20}=31.8\neq$$ R.H.S.

(B) : ÷ and -

$$\equiv15\times18\div6-20+4=29$$

L.H.S. = $$15\times3-16=29=$$ R.H.S.

=> Ans - (B)
