Question 39

The following equation is incorrect. Which two signs should be interchanged to correct the equation?
6 x 5 + 20 ÷ 4 = 31

Solution

Expression : 6 x 5 + 20 ÷ 4 = 31

(A) : + and ÷

$$\equiv6\times5\div20+4=31$$

L.H.S. = $$\frac{30}{20}+4=5.5\neq$$ R.H.S.

(B) : + and x

$$\equiv6+5\times20\div4=31$$

L.H.S. = $$6+\frac{100}{4}=6+25=31=$$ R.H.S.

=> Ans - (B)
