In a batch of 68 students, 23 students do not participate in any of the two games i.e. cricket and squash. 17 students participate in cricket only, 24 students participate in cricket and squash. How many students participate in squash only?

Solution

Let the number of students who participate in squash only = a

The given information is represented in the Venn diagram as shown below

From the Venn diagram,

17 + 24 + a + 23 = 68

$$\Rightarrow$$ 64 + a = 68

$$\Rightarrow$$ a = 4

$$\therefore\ $$Number of students who participate in squash only = 4

Hence, the correct answer is Option B
