Question 37

In a certain coding system ' BROWN ' is written as ' ZPMUL '. What is the code for 'VIOLET'?

Solution

Given :

BROWN ' is written as ' ZPMUL

The pattern followed here is :

The place value of respected alphabet - 2

i.e;

  • B = 2 : 2 - 2 = 0 or 26 : Z (total number of alphabets in english language is 26)
  • R = 18 : 18 - 2 = 16 :  P
  • O = 15 : 15 - 2 = 13 : M
  • W = 23 : 23 - 2 = 21 : U
  • N = 14 : 14 - 2 = 12 : L

Similarly,

VOILET will be written as TMGJCR

  • V = 22 : 22 - 2 = 20 : T
  • O = 15 : 15 - 2 = 13 : M
  • I = 9 : 9 - 2 = 7 : G
  • L = 12 : 12 - 2 = 10 : J
  • E = 5 : 5 - 2 = 3 : C
  • T = 20 : 20 - 2 = 18 : R

Hence, Option A is correct.
