The sum of ages of 4 children born at intervals of 4 years each is 60. What is the age of the youngest child?
Solution
Let ages of the 4 children be $$(x),(x+4),(x+8),(x+12)$$ years
Sum of ages = $$(x)+(x+4)+(x+8)+(x+12)=60$$
=> $$4x+24=60$$
=> $$4x=60-24=36$$
=> $$x=\frac{36}{4}=9$$
$$\therefore$$ Age of youngest child = $$x=9$$ years
=> Ans - (B)
