Solution

Let the present ages of X and Y are $$x$$ and $$y$$

X is 5 years older than Y

$$\Rightarrow$$ $$x=y+5$$ .........(1)

The total of the current ages of X and Y is 33 years

$$\Rightarrow$$ $$x+y=33$$

$$\Rightarrow$$ $$y+5+y=33$$

$$\Rightarrow$$ $$2y=28$$

$$\Rightarrow$$ $$y=14$$

Present age of Y = 14 years

$$\therefore\ $$Age of Y after 7 years = 14 + 7 = 21 years

Hence, the correct answer is Option A
