When a number is increased by 42, it becomes 121% of itself. What is the number?

Solution

Let the number be $$100x$$

According to ques, => $$100x + 42 = \frac{121}{100} \times 100x$$

=> $$100x + 42 = 121x$$

=> $$121x - 100x = 42$$

=> $$x = \frac{42}{21} = 2$$

$$\therefore$$ Number = $$100 \times 2 = 200$$
