In a mixture 25 litres, the ratio of milk and water is 4:1. How many litres of milk must be added to make the ratio 16:1?
Solution
Total Mixute=25 liters
and ratio of milk to water =4:1
4x+x=25
5x=25
x=5
so 20 liters of milak and 5 liter of waterÂ
Now ratio=16:1
Let y liters of milk be added to the old mixture
$$\frac{20+y}{5}=\frac{16}{1}$$
20+y=80
y=60
