Question 32

A's salary was decreased by 50% and subsequently increased by 50%. How much percent does he lose?

Solution

Let A's initial salary = $$Rs. 100x$$

First it was decreased by 50%, => A's salary = $$100x-\frac{50}{100} \times 100x = Rs. 50x$$

Then it was increased by 50%, => A's salary = $$50x+\frac{50}{100} \times 50x = Rs. 75x$$

$$\therefore$$ Percent of salary that he lost = $$\frac{100x-75x}{100x} \times 100$$

= $$25\%$$

=> Ans - (A)
