What will be the percentage of increase in the area of a square when each of the its sides is increased by 10% ?
Let side of square = 10 cm
Area of square = $$(10)^2=100$$ $$cm^2$$
If side is increase by 10%, => New side = $$10 \times \frac{110}{100}=11$$ cm
=> New area of square = $$(11)^2=121$$ $$cm^2$$
$$\therefore$$ Increase in area = $$\frac{121-100}{100} \times 100$$
= $$21\%$$
