7 years ago, the ages of A and B were in the ratio 4x : 5x

7 years hence they will be in the ratio 5x : 6x

forming the equation

4x + 7 = 5x - 7

solving we get x = 14

therefore age of B 7 years ago = $$ 14 \times 5 = 70 $$

present age of B = 70 + 7 = 77
