If the lengths of the two parallel sides of a trapezium are 7 cm and 9 cm and its area is 80 cm2. Find the distance between its parallel sides (in cm).

Solution

Let distance between parallel sides = height of trapezium = $$h$$ cm

=> Sum of lengths of parallel sides = $$7+9=16$$ cm

=> Area of trapezium = $$\frac{1}{2} \times$$ (sum of parallel sides) $$\times$$ height

=> $$\frac{1}{2}\times16\times h=80$$

=> $$h=\frac{80}{8}=10$$ cm

=> Ans - (B)
