If a number is multiplied by two-third of itself the value so obtained is 864. What is the number?
Let the number be a.
$$a\times a\times\frac{2}{3}$$=864
$$a^{2}\times\frac{2}{3}$$=864
$$a^{2}$$=$$864\times\frac{3}{2}$$
$$a^{2}$$=1296
$$a=36$$
