A boy’s age is one fourth of his father’s age. The sum of the boy’s age and his father’s age is 35. What will be father’s age after 8 years ?

Solution

Let father's age = $$4x$$ years

=> Son's age = $$\frac{1}{4}\times4x=x$$ years

Thus, sum of their ages = $$4x+x=35$$

=> $$x=\frac{35}{5}=7$$

$$\therefore$$ Father's age after 8 years = $$4(7)+8=36$$ years

=> Ans - (D)
