The average age of father and his son is 22 years. The ratio of their ages is 10 : 1 respectively. What is the age of the son ?

Solution

Let the age of father be 10z and Son be z years

given that average age of father and son = 22 years

$$\frac{10z+z}{2}$$ = 5.5z = 22

z = 4

So age of Son = 4 years
