35 per cent of a number is two times 75 per cent of another number. What is the ratio between the first and the second numbers respectively ?
Solution
Let the first and second numbers resp be $$x$$ and $$y$$
=> $$\frac{35}{100} x = \frac{75}{100} y \times 2$$
=> $$35x = 150y$$
=> $$\frac{x}{y} = \frac{30}{7}$$
