Area of a rectangular field is 3584 m² and the length and the breadth are in the ratio 7 : 2 respectively. What is the perimeter of the rectangle ?
Solution
Let the length and breadth of the field resp = $$7x , 2x$$
=> Area of field = $$7x \times 2x = 3584$$
=> $$x^2 = \frac{3584}{14} = 256$$
=> $$x = \sqrt{256} = 16$$
$$\therefore$$ Perimeter of rectangular field
= $$2 (7x + 2x) = 18x$$
= $$18 \times 16 = 288$$ metre
