Question 146

Study the pie-chart and answer the question.
Distribution(Degree-wise)of the number of the employees of a company working in 5 departments A,B,C,D and E

If the ratio of male employees and female employees working in department D is 4 : 5 and that in department E is 9: 11, then what is the ratio of the total male employees in D and E to the number of employees in B?

Solution

Total employee = 3200

so employee in B = $$ 3200 \times \dfrac {57.8}{360} = 512 $$

now, employee in D = $$3200 \times \dfrac{36}{360} = 576 $$

employee in E = $$3200 \times \dfrac{36}{360} = 320 $$

Now male Employee in D and E = $$ 576 \times \dfrac{4}{9} + 320 \times \dfrac{9}{20} $$( from ratio method)

$$\Rightarrow 256 + 144  $$

$$\Rightarrow 400 $$

then required ratio = 400: 512

$$\Rightarrow 25:32 Ans
