Question 144

A and B together can finish a piece of work in 12 days while B alone can do it in 30 days. In how many days can A alone finish the work ?

Solution

Time taken by A and B together = 12 days

Time taken by B alone = 30 days

=> A's 1 day's work = $$\frac{1}{12} - \frac{1}{30}$$

= $$\frac{5 - 2}{60} = \frac{3}{60} = \frac{1}{20}$$

$$\therefore$$ Required time = 20 days
