Question 143

How is P related to A ?
I. A is the daughter of M and the sister of S.
II. K is the son of P and the husband of M.

Solution

Clearly each statement alone is insufficient as both P and A are not mentioned in both statements. Combining both of them, we get :

A is the daughter of M and the sister of S.

=> A (female) and S are children of M.

K is the son of P and the husband of M.

=> M is wife of K, while A and S are grandchildren of P.

But, gender of P is unknown, thus P can be either grandfather or grandmother of A.

Thus, relation cannot be determined even after combining both statements.

=> Ans - (D)
