Two numbers are in the ratio 1:3. If their sum is 240, then their difference is:

Solution

let's say one number is $$x$$ and another is $$3x$$
summation will be $$4x$$ = 240
                           $$x$$ = 60
hence number will be 60 and 180
and difference will be 120.
