Question 14

Which of the following interchange of signs would make the equation correct?

5 + 3 x 8 - 12 ÷ 4 = 3

Solution

Expression : 5 + 3 x 8 - 12 ÷ 4 = 3

(A) : $$5\div3\times8-12+4=3$$

L.H.S. = $$\frac{40}{3}-8=5.33\neq$$ R.H.S.

(B) : $$5\times3+8-12\div4=3$$

L.H.S. = $$15+8-3=20\neq$$ R.H.S.

(C) : $$5+3\times8\div12-4=3$$

L.H.S. = $$5+2-4=3$$ R.H.S.

=> Ans - (C)
