Two positive whole numbers are such that the sum of the first and twice the second number is 8 and their difference is 2. The numbers are:
Solution
Let the numbers be $$x$$ and $$(x-2)$$
According to ques,
=> $$x+2(x-2)=8$$
=> $$x+2x-4=8$$
=> $$3x=8+4=12$$
=> $$x=\frac{12}{3}=4$$
$$\therefore$$ Numbers are = 4, 2
