Question 114

Mr. Nilesh Agrawal opened a workshop investing Rs. 40,000. He invested additional amount of Rs. 10,000 every year. After two years his brother Suresh joined him with an amount of Rs. 85,000. Thereafter Suresh did not invest any additional amount. On completion of four years from the opening of workshop they earned an amount of Rs. 1,95,000. What will be Nilesh’s share in the earning ?

Solution

Nilesh invested 40,000 for 4 years; 50,000 for 3 years;60,000 for 2 years and 70,000 for one year.
Hence, his total investment including time (in thousands) is 40*4+10*3+10*2+10*1 = 160+30+20+10 = 220

Suresh invested 85,000 for 2 years.
Hence, his total investment including time (in thousands) is 85*2 = 170

Total earnings from the workshop is 1,95,000.
Nilesh's share is $$195000 * \frac{220}{390} = 110000$$
