The sum of three numbers is 216. If the ratio of the first to the second is 2:3 and that of the second to the third is 3:4, then the second number is

Solution

Let the three numbers respectively be $$2x,3x$$ and $$4x$$

Sum = $$2x+3x+4x=9x=216$$

=> $$x=\frac{216}{9}=24$$

$$\therefore$$ Second number = $$3\times24=72$$

=> Ans - (B)
