Let the amount paid to A per week = $$x$$

according to question,

amount paid to B per week B = 140 % of$$ x $$= $$  \dfrac{140}{100} x $$

total amount  =  $$ x$$ +$$ \dfrac{140}{100}x $$

Now, taking LCM,

$$ \dfrac{100}{100}x +\dfrac{140}{100}x = 2040$$

$$\Rightarrow \dfrac {100 x +140 x} {100} = 2040$$ (making same denominater)

$$\Rightarrow 240x = 2040 x 100$$

$$\Rightarrow x=\dfrac{ 2040 \times 100} {240} $$
