The average of four consecutive even number is 27. What is the highest number ?

Solution

Let the four even numbers be a, a+2, a+4 and a+6.

Hence, their sum is 4a + 12 and their average is a+3
So, a+3 = 27 or a = 24

Hence, the highest number is a+6 = 30
