Question 107

DIRECTION for the question: Solve the following question and mark the best possible option.

The average of 10 numbers is 40.2. Later it is found that two numbers have been wrongly copied. The first is 18 greater than the actual number and the second number added is 13 instead of 31. Find the correct average.

Incorrect average of 10 numbers is 40.2 which makes the incorrect sum = 40.2*10 = 402.
The first is 18 greater than the actual number which means that the actual sum will be 18 lesser.
Also, we need to remove 13 and add 31 instead.
This makes the actual sum = 402 - 18 -13 + 31 = 402.
Thus, the actual average = 402/10 = 40.2.
