Question 101

The sides of a triangle are in the ratio 3 : 4 : 5. If the perimeter of the triangle is 24 cm, its area is:

Solution

Let say, sides of the triangle are 3k,4k and 5k.

so, perimeter of triangle $$=24.$$

or,$$3k+4k+5k=24.$$

or,$$12k=24.$$

or,$$k=2.$$

sides are 6,8 and 10.

semi perimeter(s) of traingle

$$=(6+8+10)/2=12.$$

Area of a triangle$$=√(s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)).$$

$$=√(12×(12-6)×(12-8)×(12-10))$$

$$=√(12×6×4×2)$$

$$=24.$$

B is correct choice.
