NIT Reporting Process After CSAB Seat Allotment

The CSAB Round 2 result is the final Special Round allotment for candidates participating in the two-round CSAB Special process. Receiving an allotment does not complete admission automatically. Candidates must finish the applicable CSAB online requirements and the institute-level admission formalities.

Step Action Required
1 Check the CSAB Special Round 2 allotment result
2 Complete IAF-II payment, document upload and query response, where applicable
3 Download the final seat allotment and provisional admission documents
4 Open the allotted NIT’s official admission notice
5 Complete institute pre-registration, if required
6 Pay the applicable balance institute fee
7 Arrange original documents and the required photocopies
8 Report personally at the designated campus venue within the institute’s schedule
9 Complete document, identity and category verification
10 Complete academic registration, hostel admission and orientation formalities

Candidates should retain copies of the allotment letter, payment receipts and verification-related documents. If an institute requires online pre-registration, completing only physical reporting may not be sufficient.

NIT Reporting Fees

There is no single uniform physical reporting fee for every NIT. The amount payable at the institute depends on its approved fee structure, the candidate’s category, fee-remission eligibility, hostel choice and the amount already adjusted through JoSAA or CSAB.

Fee Component Purpose Payment Stage
Institute Admission Fee-II Required from applicable CSAB candidates to confirm the allotted seat During CSAB Round 2 online reporting
Balance Institute Fee Remaining institute charges after eligible fee adjustment Before or during institute reporting
Tuition Fee Academic tuition charges for the semester According to the NIT fee notice
Hostel Fee Hostel room and related charges If hostel accommodation is allotted
Mess Advance Advance payment for mess services Institute-specific
Other Charges Registration, examination, identity card or student-service charges Institute-specific

The CSAB IAF-II amount for candidates required to pay it is ₹35,000 for GEN, GEN-EWS and OBC-NCL candidates and ₹16,000 for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Candidates classified under CSAB Type 6 are exempt from IAF-II because they have already paid the Partial Admission Fee through JoSAA.

IAF-II is not the complete NIT fee. Candidates must check the allotted institute’s fee notice to determine the remaining amount and accepted payment method.

What Happens If You Miss the NIT Reporting Deadline?

Failure to report physically at the allotted institute within its prescribed schedule can result in cancellation of the allotted seat. Completing CSAB online reporting alone does not remove the requirement to join the institute.

Situation Likely Consequence
Physical reporting completed on time Institute admission and registration can proceed
Required original document is unavailable Admission may remain provisional or be rejected, depending on institute rules
Category certificate is invalid Seat eligibility may be reviewed or the allotment may be cancelled
Balance institute fee is not paid Institute admission may remain incomplete
Physical reporting deadline is missed The allotted seat can be cancelled
Candidate does not join the allotted institute No refund is available from CSAB; any subsequent refund is governed by the institute’s rules

If an unavoidable emergency prevents reporting, contact the allotted NIT immediately through its official admission helpline. A request for an extension or alternative arrangement is not automatically accepted and remains subject to the institute’s decision.

NIT Reporting Dates 2026: Conclusion

The NIT reporting dates 2026 after CSAB Round 2 differ across institutes. Although the common tentative physical reporting period is August 13–18, several NITs have issued separate schedules extending beyond this window. Candidates should complete CSAB online reporting, download their admission documents, pay the applicable balance fee and reach the allotted institute within its official reporting schedule.

Before leaving for the campus, verify the reporting date, venue, required forms, document list, payment instructions and hostel procedure on the allotted NIT’s website. Missing a required step can affect admission even when a seat has already been allotted
