JEE Main 2027 Session 1 and 2 Exam Timings and Shifts

JEE Main 2027 is scheduled to be conducted in morning and afternoon shifts, depending on the examination date and paper. The standard morning shift for a three-hour paper runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, while the afternoon shift runs from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Candidates appearing for both B.Arch and B.Planning together have a longer examination duration.

The established shift timings for JEE Main are listed below. Candidates should verify their allotted shift and reporting time on their admit cards.

Exam DurationMorning Shift (IST)Afternoon Shift (IST)
3 hours9:00 AM–12:00 noon3:00 PM–6:00 PM
3 hours 30 minutes9:00 AM–12:30 PM3:00 PM–6:30 PM

Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech, Paper 2A for B.Arch and Paper 2B for B.Planning each have a duration of three hours when taken individually. Candidates appearing for Paper 2A and Paper 2B together are allotted three hours and 30 minutes.

Examination timings should not be confused with reporting timings. Candidates must follow the reporting instructions and gate-closing time specified on their admit cards. They should arrive early enough to complete identity verification, biometric registration where applicable and other entry formalities.

To become familiar with the examination schedule, students can attempt a JEE Main mock test during their expected examination hours. Practising under timed conditions can help improve concentration, question selection and time management.

Regular practice with JEE questions can also help students identify difficult topics in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics before attempting full-length mock tests.

JEE Main 2027 Registration Dates for Both Sessions

JEE Main 2027 Session 1 registration opened on October 24, 2026. Candidates can submit their applications during the regular registration window until November 22, 2026, up to 11:50 PM. The late-fee application window is scheduled from November 23 to November 26, 2026.

For Session 2, registration is scheduled from January 5 to February 3, 2027. The late-fee application window is scheduled for February 4 to February 7, 2027. Candidates applying during the late-fee period must pay the additional fee specified by NTA, along with the applicable examination fee. Application submission and fee-payment deadlines are scheduled to close at 11:50 PM on the respective final dates.

Candidates who register for Session 1 can apply for Session 2 using their existing application number when the second-session application window opens. Students planning to appear only in the April session can register separately during the Session 2 window. An application is considered successfully completed only after the prescribed fee has been paid and the confirmation page has been generated.

JEE Main 2027 City Intimation Slip and Admit Card Dates

NTA has scheduled the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 city intimation slip for December 30, 2026. The Session 2 city intimation slip is scheduled for March 12, 2027. Candidates should check the official examination website for any changes to these release dates.

The city intimation slip informs candidates about the city allotted for their examination before the admit card is issued. This advance information can help students plan travel and accommodation. The JEE Main 2027 admit card is scheduled for January 13, 2027, for Session 1 and March 25, 2027, for Session 2.

The city intimation slip and admit card serve different purposes. The city slip provides advance information about the examination city, whereas the admit card contains the candidate's allotted examination date, shift, centre details and important examination-day instructions.

After downloading the admit card, candidates should carefully verify the following details:

  • Candidate's name, photograph and selected examination paper.
  • Allotted examination date and shift timing.
  • Examination centre address and reporting instructions.
  • Required identification documents and examination-day guidelines.

Candidates must carry their admit card and the required identification documents to the examination centre. The city intimation slip cannot be used as a substitute for the admit card. If any discrepancy appears in personal details, the photograph or the signature, candidates should contact NTA through its official helpdesk.

Admit cards are made available online and are not sent by post. Candidates should download their admit cards, read the instructions carefully and keep a copy for reference. Those travelling to another city should verify the exact centre address and plan their journey after the admit card becomes available.

The scheduled release dates for both documents are listed below. Candidates should check the official website for actual availability and any subsequent notices.

JEE Main 2027 Result Dates for Both Sessions

The exact JEE Main 2027 Session 1 and Session 2 result declaration dates have not been specified in the examination schedule. Candidates should avoid treating result dates published on unofficial websites as confirmed. NTA will announce the results and make the scorecards available through its official examination website.

Before declaring the results, NTA is expected to display the provisional answer keys and provide candidates with an opportunity to challenge them within the specified period. After reviewing the challenges, NTA will publish the final answer keys. The results will be calculated using the final answer keys and the applicable NTA Score procedure.

Candidates appearing in both sessions should understand how their scores are considered. NTA calculates scores separately for each session. For candidates who appear in both January and April, the better of the two total NTA Scores is considered for the overall merit list and ranking. The highest individual subject scores from different sessions are not combined to calculate the final total score.

The Common Rank List and category ranks are prepared after Session 2 under the applicable examination rules. Candidates should regularly check the official JEE Main website for result notifications and download their scorecards once they are released.

The current result status is summarised below.

JEE Main 2027 Session 2 resultExact date not announced

Candidates should rely on official NTA announcements for result dates, scorecards and ranking information rather than unverified dates circulating online.

JEE Main Exam Date 2027: Conclusion

The JEE Main Exam Date 2027 schedule lists Session 1 examinations in January and Session 2 examinations in April. Along with the examination dates, candidates should keep track of registration deadlines, city intimation slips, admit cards, shift timings and result announcements. Checking these milestones in advance can help students organise their preparation and avoid missing important deadlines.

As the examination approaches, candidates should practise with previous-year question papers, revise the syllabus and attempt timed mock tests. They should also monitor official announcements for any changes to the schedule. A clear understanding of the JEE Main 2027 exam dates, combined with consistent preparation and effective time management, can help students approach the examination with confidence.
