IIM Guwahati Stage 1 Shortlist Out
IIM Guwahati (IIMG), inaugurated in February, 2026, is the newest Indian Institute of Management set up in India, mentored by IIM Ahmedabad. If you've been eyeing a seat in its first-ever PGP batch, here's a complete breakdown of the Stage 1 shortlist process, CAT cutoffs, and what to do next.
What Is the IIM Guwahati Stage 1 Shortlist?
The admission process at IIM Guwahati works in clearly defined stages. Stage 0 checks basic academic eligibility, requiring a minimum of 50% marks in graduation (45% for reserved categories). Once you clear that, you move to Stage 1.
The Stage 1 shortlist consists of all candidates who satisfy the basic academic eligibility (Stage 0) and the minimum CAT 2025 percentile cutoffs. In short - if your CAT score clears the bar and your graduation marks are in order, you're on the Stage 1 shortlist.
CAT 2025 Cutoffs for Stage 1 Shortlist
For non-PwD general category candidates, the minimum cutoff is 85 overall percentile and 75 percentile in each section - VARC, DILR, and QA. A positive raw score in all sections is also mandatory.
Check the table below for complete details on Cutoffs.
Category | Non-PwD CAT Cut-off | PwD CAT Cut-off
Overall Percentile Rank | Section-wise Percentile Rank (VARC, DILR, QA) | Overall Percentile Rank | Section-wise Percentile Rank (VARC, DILR, QA)
General, EWS | 85 | 75 | 75 | 65 |
NC-OBC | 80 | 70 | 70 | 60 |
SC | 75 | 65 | 65 | 55 |
ST | 65 | 55 | 55 | 45 |
Category-wise cutoffs are lower for reserved categories. The key thing to remember: clearing the cutoff is necessary, but not sufficient. Your actual composite score determines the final seat.

IIM Guwahati Final Selection Process 2026
This is one of the biggest points of IIM Guwahati's selection process. There is no WAT, no group discussion, and no personal interview. The entire process from CAT to final selection is document-and-score-based.
Your final rank is based on a Composite Score (CS), which is calculated as:
- 65% weightage - Normalized CAT Score (NCAT)
- 35% weightage - Normalized Academic Rating (NAR) based on Class 10, Class 12, and graduation marks, plus work experience
Work experience is not mandatory but gives extra weightage in the final selection. So even a fresher can make it - you just need strong academics and a good CAT score.
