The eligibility criteria include:

  1. 50% marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in Graduation. This requirement is 45% for SC, ST or PwD categories. If you have not pursued graduation but possess a professional certification like CA/CS/ICWA, you are still eligible if you have the above-mentioned minimum marks.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview process. The interview panel will evaluate each candidate's performance in terms of quality of work experience, diversity, leadership qualities, social sensitivity, and multi-facetedness.

IIM Bangalore Admission Process

513 students are enrolled for the full-time regular MBA program in the 2023-25 batch. The admission process for IIM Bangalore is simple, unlike IIM Ahmedabad. Apply for the CAT exam (Common Admission Test) for PGP admission or directly on the IIM Bangalore website for other courses. You can find more details on the CAT application process. Visit the official website https://www.iimb.ac.in/ for other courses and apply according to the requirements. There are no criteria or requirements for 10th and 12th marks. IIM Bangalore Admission Shortlisting Stage

  • Candidates having a higher percentile than the minimum required overall percentile and in each of the three sections (quants, VARC & DILR) are shortlisted for the personal interview rounds. IIM Bangalore normalizes the 10th and 12th marks based on the difficulty level of your board.
  • Any professional certifications like Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary or Cost Accountant will also contribute to the normalization of your score. You also get extra points if you are a CA, CS or Cost Accountant.
  • Your work experience till July before you appeared for CAT will also be considered for shortlisting. The maximum points you can get for work experience are 10. If you have a work experience of more than 36 months, you get 10 points. Or the below formula is used to count points for the work experience you hold considering the number of months to be ‘x’:
Experience between 0 to 36 months 10X / 36
Experience greater than and equal to 36 months 10
  • The top 10 toppers of CAT or professional courses (CA, CS, ICWA) will get a direct shortlist for the MBA program.
  • The weightage of the parameters is as follows:

CAT VARC 19% 55%

DILR 21%

IIM Bangalore Admission: Interview Stage

The score obtained from the weighted average of the above marks decides which top students make it to the final selection stage i.e. the interview round. There are 2 processes in the interview round as follows:

  • Round-1: Written Ability Test (WAT)

You must write on one topic that is given to you within 30 minutes.

    • Round-2: Personal Interview (PI)

Candidates are interviewed by a panel of 3-4 people. You may expect questions based on your academics, and work experience, or situation-based questions which might often put you under pressure or stress you out. Your PI score is the average of all the scores given by the panellists. Your 10th and 12th marks are rechecked during this stage once again. Any changes in your marks and quality metrics of work experience are also considered for the final selection list.

The weightage for the final selection list is as below:

      Parameter Weightage

      CAT

      VARC 8.75%

      25%

      DILR 10%
      Quants 6.25%

      12th Marks 10%
Professional course or Work Experience (whichever is higher) 10%
