IIM Bangalore PGP Admission Criteria 2023-25: Key Changes to Know
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is one of India’s top B-schools and one of the most desirable colleges for many MBA aspirants. The first step towards getting admission into the IIM Bangalore is taking the Common Admission Test (CAT) exam. Every year over two lakh candidates appear for the CAT exam. The selection criteria at the IIMB for the PGP 2023-25 Batch have Changed. IIM-B Selection is based on the CAT score, Overall academic record, Work experience, Gender diversity, and the performance of the candidate in the Written Ability Test (WAT) and the Personal Interview (PI). In this article, we will look at the change in IIM Bangalore admission criteria and how to get into it.
The IIMs select candidates based on a wide variety of factors. So, if we look at these factors, one can understand the selection criteria better and try to achieve the required CAT score accordingly.
The Common Selection Process at the Top IIMs
The selection process at the top IIMs is broadly divided into two stages. In detail, let us check out the stages in the selection process at the Top IIMs.
Stage 1: Candidates are shortlisted for the interviews on the basis of their CAT score and other factors like academic record, work experience, etc, and interview letters are sent to the shortlisted candidates.
Parameters for selection in Stage 1:
1. CAT Percentile
2. Past Academics
3. Work experience
4. Gender Diversity
Stage 2: The second stage is where the colleges select based on WAT-PI. A Composite Score is calculated for the Final Selection. The composite score of each candidate is calculated (usually out of 100) based on certain parameters, and the final selection list will be made.

Latest Admission Criteria of IIM Bangalore (PGP 2023-25)
IIM Bangalore is known for rewarding consistent performers. They give more emphasis on Work experience and one’s performance in Academics.
Basic CAT score requirement to get shortlisted for the interviews:

(Please note that these are cut-offs used for preparing the first shortlist. The scores of those called for interviews were higher. )
IIMB Stage 1 Criteria

*The 55 points for CAT are derived from the performance in each of the three sections as follows: Verbal & Reading Comprehension (VARC) – 19 points, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) – 21 points, and Quantitative Aptitude (QA) – 15 points.
So, as we can see, IIM Bangalore has removed Graduation Marks weightage from its Selection Criteria. Only your 10th and 12th Marks are given weightage under past acads.
For all candidates in the first shortlist, the score/weight for work experience is calculated as follows:
Pre PI score for Work Experience:
= 10x/36 , if 0<x<36
=10 if x>=36
(Where x is the months of your work experience)
