CAT 2020 Slot-3 Analysis:

The third slot of CAT 2020 took place between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm. According to inputs of students, the third slot was slightly difficult than the other two slots with DILR surely being tougher than earlier two slots. The overall pattern is the same as the 1st and 2nd slots. The conduct of the test in three slots was nearly smooth and without glitches.

Similar to the earlier slots, the test started with VARC followed by DILR which is followed by QA. One can’t skip the section and should complete 40min in each section to proceed to the next section.

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension:

The VARC section in all three slots is similar to the majority of the RC’s asking Inference type of questions. The overall difficulty is Moderate-Tough. There were two passages with 5 questions each and two passages with 4 questions each. Verbal is easier compared to RC, it has 3 Para Summary, 3 Para Jumbles, 2 odd sentences out type questions. A decent attempt would be 17-19 questions with 85% accuracy.

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning:

DILR in surely the toughest section in all three slots and the difficulty level of slot 3 is more than slot 1 and slot 2. So, one can expect a increase in score during normalisation. Like slot 2 and slot 1, there are total of 24 questions in 5 sets with 6 questions each in two sets and 4 questions each in 3 sets.

The overall difficulty of this section is more that of CAT 2019 and 2018.

Quantitative Aptitude:

This section is a relief after two back-back difficult sections but the approach to this section with a positive attitude was very important. The level of difficulty of this section is similar to that of CAT 2019.
