BITSAT 2026 Session 2 vs Session 1: Key Differences
Both sessions are conducted by BITS Pilani and the best score from either session is considered for admissions. However, there are some practical differences worth knowing before you decide:
Parameter | Session 1 | Session 2 |
Exam Dates | April 15β16, 2026 | May 24β26, 2026 |
Registration Window | Dec 15, 2025 β Mar 19, 2026 | Apr 20 β May 2, 2026 |
Slot Booking | March 29β31, 2026 | May 13β15, 2026 |
Admit Card Release | April 10, 2026 | May 20, 2026 |
Exam Duration | 3 hours | 3 hours |
Exam Pattern | 130 MCQs | 130 MCQs (same) |
Score Considered | Best of both sessions | Best of both sessions |
Board Exam Overlap | Possible (April boards) | Unlikely (post-board) |
The biggest practical advantage of Session 2 is timing. By late May, most Class 12 board exams are over, giving students more focused preparation time. Scores from Session 1 are also visible after the exam, so students know exactly what they need to improve.
Who Should Apply for BITSAT Session 2?
Session 2 is not just a fallback option. It is a strategic choice for the right type of candidate. You should seriously consider Session 2 if:
You missed the Session 1 registration or exam window and this is your only chance.
You appeared in Session 1 but were not satisfied with your score and want another attempt.
You had board exams overlapping with Session 1 and could not prepare fully.
You want to see your Session 1 score first and use it as a benchmark before going into Session 2.
You are a fresh candidate who discovered BITSAT late and could not register in Phase 1.
Eligibility reminder:
You must have passed or be appearing in Class 12 (10+2) from a recognised board.
Minimum 75% aggregate in PCM (for B.E.) or PCB (for B.Pharm.) in Class 12.
Minimum 60% marks individually in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths/Biology.
There is no age limit for BITSAT.
Candidates who applied for both sessions during Phase 1 (before March 2026) do not need to register again. Those who only registered for Session 1 can log in and add Session 2 before the May 2 deadline.
