how do i solve para jumbles
let M and P be the points on AC and BC of triangle ABC such that AM:MC=3:1 and BP:PC=1:2.If Q is the intersection point of AP and BM and area of tri BPQ is 1sq unit,find the area of tri ABC.
In the explanation of above question it is assumed that there is no overlap between the two chords. However, overlapping chords is also a possibility (as shown in RED lines). If overlapping chords are considered then finding the solution becomes difficult and a different solution can be arrived at. Is there any trick to approaching the problem the way it has been and to eliminate the possibility of overlapping chords?

In the solution, why is it assumed that A,C>0 ? We can get B=1 even when both A,C<0. This way the number of total solutions possible is 16. Can someone help me with this?
