$$22^{2}+\sqrt{?}=516$$

Solution

Let the number to replace the question mark be equal to $$X$$

So, $$22^{2}+\sqrt{X}=516$$
Therefore, $$484 + \sqrt{X} = 516$$
Or, $$\sqrt{X} = 32$$ and $$X = 32^2 = 1024$$
